Back to the Blackberry
February 10th, 2007 | by audit |Well in about 4 more days, I’ll be back using a VZW 7250 Blackberry again. I still have my Treo 650 but it’s sitting in a drawer collecting dust after the screen was repaired by a good friend of mine. I’ve been using a Motorola E815 now since my Treo was killed when I fell on it during a mini-stroke. I really love the PHONE features of the E815 and it’s been a very solid device for me but I’m not able to get my office e-mail on it. Now since I’ve started having these health issues, I haven’t been spending as much time on the computer and logged into my office VPN to stay caught up on e-mail. Since I’m not eligible for the NE2 plan yet from verizon, I decided to pick up a 7250 off ebay and was lucky enough to find one for under $50.00
The 7250 is a solid device that I’ve used before, it doesn’t play MP3’s as ringtones so that’s a minor drawback but at this time in my life, I really don’t care about that anymore. The 8703e does have a few more features and I’ll upgrade in October when my contract is ready to be renewed. So this weekend a friend of mine is taking a couple computers that I have at home and building 1 kick ass system for me to install RIM’s 1 user BES Express server on so I can get my office e-mail through exchange. Now I’m just trying to figure out how I want my personal e-mail to work over BIS. I have 2 main e-mail accounts, 1 is for family and job’s that hasn’t changed in 11 years. Another is one that I use for friends, mail lists, etc. I can probably get rid of that one fairly easily but I’m not sure if I want to just yet.
For this weekend, I think I’ll just try to find some basic programs to install on my blackberry when it arrives. I already know that Pocket Express will be one of the very first one’s on it since I have a yearly subscription to it. Then I need to find a IM client for it so I can keep in touch with friends and family when out.
