Verizon’s not that bad
April 26th, 2007 | by audit |Well after all the changes that’s been happening in 2007 with my wife and my health, I’ve been really looking at ways to cut back on everything and anything to help us get by and save money. My 401k at work is doing great so far and that’s keeping me happy so mark one thing up, next step was to figure out how to cut my cell bill down and here’s where Verizon really came through for me. I called them yesterday and the customer service rep was probably the nicest CS rep I’ve ever spoken with, I spent my entire lunch hour on the phone with her going over our bill and low and behold, she comes back and tells me that for the last 36 months, my wife’s been getting charged $25.00 extra a month because they’ve been charging her for nights and weekends that was supposed to be free as part of her plan. So she credit’s $50 to our account right off the bat and tells me that she’s notifying another department about this because she’s not authorized to credit anymore then $50.00.
So then we move on to the next item, my wife and I have 2 separate plans, mine has data and now my company is putting that charge in my check each month so that saves me $45 each month. We also moved over to the family share plan of 2100 minutes so my wife’s phone is only $9.99 each month. I know she’s not going to hit anywhere near 100 minutes a month off VZW to VZW since the only people she speaks to on the phone really is myself when I’m at work and her mom who also has VZW but I’ll say 100 minutesĀ just in case she calls anyone else not on VZW. So we added a 3rd phone for free as an emergency phone for the kids and over the rest of the billing period for Vonage, I’m going to start letting the different billing companies know that our home number has changed and I’ll change that to my cell. That cuts $58.00 a month right there but we lose our fax machine which I don’t really mind because we’re not really using it much anyhow. We can always have anything important faxed over to my folks house and I can get it from them, and if we need to fax anything, the same thing applies.
So it looks like I’m starting to try to get things back on track again, albeit longer then I expected but at least I’m moving in the right direction. My next plan is to contact the dealer where I leased my Equinox from since my lease is up in January of 08 and see if we can get rid of the lease now and change it to a purchase. I’m hoping and thinking that will cut my monthly bill down each month since I had to roll over almost $10k from my Jimmy into this lease payment, therefor raising this payment to much more then I really wanted to pay but the Jimmy had been through some very rough times, (off roading, hunting trips, etc) and was starting to die a slow costly death.
Well that’s it for me today, I’m guessing that I won’t be posting for a few days as things are starting to get busy at home with the kids getting ready for the summer break and all the stuff I’m getting ready to sell on ebay.
