Blackberry finally meet’s it’s maker.
June 25th, 2007 | by audit |Well over the weekend, I had another attack and I guess the last fall on the blackberry was the final straw that broke it’s back. It’s dead now as far as the keys go. So I’m back to using a regular cell phone again. But being the type of guy I am, I couldn’t just let the E815 stay the way that VZW sent it to me as back almost 2 years ago. So thanks to some searching, I was able to enable all the features that they disabled so I can get my custom ringtones, pictures, video’s, etc on it without any issues. The sad part is trying to learn how to text message on it when I’ve been so used to a QWERTY keyboard for so long between my Treo and by Blackberry. What’s even worse now is that I’m not going to be as tied into work as I was before as far as e-mails go. That means that I’m going to need to logged into the office over the VPN all the time when at home now checking e-mails in case something important comes along. Then comes the manual sync of my calender and address book every day or week, depending how often it changes.
With some of the legal things I have going on next month with my wife and visiting the courthouse, I’ll be out of touch again with work because of the camera that the phone has and the laws with camara phones in the courthouse. That should be interesting to explain to my boss when I’m not sure how long I’ll be in the courthouse.
The only good things are, I’ll never miss a picture of something cute that I want to capture when out with the camera and video so that’s a plus, my downside is I only have the car charger for it right now so as I’m sitting in the office, the phone is in the car charging up until my home charger is shipped from ebay. The local stores just wanted too much damn $ for one and the current one has issues with it. Everytime I plug it into the current home charger, I get an error saying unable to charge and the battery meter at the top goes blank until I shut the phone off and turn it back on.
October is when I’m able to upgrade to a new phone and I’m deciding if I want the new World Phone from VZW or not, maybe they will have something else out by then that is better but who knows. I know that I can upgrade right now for $270 but I just don’t have that laying around to put out on a phone, even if 80% of it’s use is for work. I guess I’ll be missing a few personal e-mails during the day because I don’t have time to check them via webmail all day.
Well that’s about it for now.
