A fool and his money is soon parted.
September 9th, 2008 | by admin |So I’m sitting here taking some pictures and I got to thinking about a very paranoid person that I used to know that bought a nice Canon EOS camera. The thing about this particular person is he shoots in GreenBox or Auto mode on almost every picture that I’ve ever seen. Why spend the $ to get a nice camera like that if your not going to learn how to use it properly? My guess is this person thinks that the camera is making the pictures look better. That’s true to a CERTAIN extent. But does this person know about ISO and F speeds? My guess is not otherwise that person would’ve been shooting in them by now.
Now I’m no where near the expert in being a photographer but I’m learning to shooting in modes other then GreenBox/Auto mode at least. There’s just so much more that can be done with pictures once you learn that shooting in M mode is a GREAT thing. Yes it’s been very hard for me to pick up but I also have a lot of things going on besides work which includes taking care of my wife and kids after work which doesn’t leave me much time to go out and shoot. BUT I do shoot inside the house and out in the road when the kids are outside playing which is almost everyday now.
With summer break over, our church has gone back to 2 services on Sunday’s so I’m going to be taking my camera up there every Sunday to take pictures of the Sunday School programs to put up on the website as well as the gatherings. I REFUSE to shoot in Auto Mode for this upcoming project because I feel that it’s a great injustice to not only the people that I’m taking pictures of but also myself for not taking the best pictures I can possibly take.
So maybe this is just a stupid rant and then maybe it’s not. It’s being typed from my Blackberry as I sit here looking at a house in Clawson before I head out to take care of some other bussiness. So in the meantime, before you go out to spend the $ on a good digital camera, make sure your going to use it to it’s full potential, otherwise there’s plenty of good Point and Shoot camera’s that you can purchase for 1/4 of the price and still capture those special moments.
