I’ve been doing some thinking today and debating what options we have as far as living in our current home. Karen’s mom has a house down in Florida that’s fully payed for and she has to pay the taxes and upkeep on it. If we give our our current home to forclosure then after 3 years it will be off my dad’s credit since the house is in his name. One of our neighbors is doing this exact thing as I was talking to him on the phone as I was driving and he was already preapproved for a mortgage before our economy took a major shit.
He’s moving out on November 20th and into his new house, his current house will be put into forclosure and after 3 years as long as he keeps making all his payments as far as CC’s, house, etc on time then his credit will be back to the way it is now. Both his cars are payed off and his new house payment will be $200 less total then his current one with lot rent, house payment, etc. So in the long run he’s saving money.
Now this guy is a VERT bright guy and doesn’t just jump into things without researching them fully. So now it’s just a matter of talking Karen’s mom into letting us have the house and taking over all the payments that she has now, since it’s fully furnished, we’d have a moving sale and sell off what we don’t need down in Florida and the rest we’d put in a U-Haul and take to the new house. Of course non of this will/would happen until my folks give the ok as well as her mom. Then I would spend as much time as possible checking for jobs in IT down in Cape Coral Florida and if everything works out, we’d move after the kids got out of school this spring.
That’s the hardest part that we can see is moving the kids away from their friends they have now, but our son is a skateboarder so I’m sure he’d make new friends easily, and our daughter is open to all new things although she doesn’t like the idea of moving to Florida.
This is something that we really need to think about and not rush into. After all, it’s not just Karen’s and my life and future but also our kids future that we’re talking about. If my health was better then getting a job as a bouncer wouldn’t be a problem, I’ve done that work before and it’s not as hard as some people think. Just the pay sucks.
This is something that we really need to take our time with. I do have a family that counts on me and I don’t want to put any of them at risk.
