[note: I've been waiting for this law and I'm sure a LOT of other people in Michigan have been also, I may buy some flowers to send to Gov. Jennifer Granholm for this]

Armed citizens who shoot in self-defense would gain legal protection from civil lawsuits and criminal charges under six bills signed Thursday by Gov. Jennifer Granholm.

The bill-signings produced barbs between Granholm and a Republican senator who backed the bills. Read the rest of this entry »

Wildfire IM Server is nice

So today I get assigned to research some IM servers and clients so we have a universal one for our company that everyone internal and external can use. I know that jabber is the one of choice for linux but we’re a windows shop for the most part here at this point. I checked the jabber website and found this. So far it’s a sweet setup, it has SSL support right out of the box so that impressed me and my boss. After messing around with it for a couple hours, we’re now using this as our corperate IM client and I recommend it to anyone looking for something like that.

Back to work

Well I’m back to work again after taking a week off but this time at my new position at a new company. It’s almost the end of the day and I’m still smiling even after everything that was thrown at me today. I’m taking that as a good sign.

Start of vacation

Well I’m on vacation for the next week and get to relax or so I hope. With the kids being off for their summer break for the first week, I doubt I’ll get to sleep much. My son already came in early today telling me he was bored and him and my daughter want to go to the beach today.

It’s a good thing I’m leaving for a few hours to go finish some paperwork for my new job today, I don’t feel like playing that the beach all day, I do plan on going this week, just not today.

Talk about screwed up.

Well Thursday I thought was Friday and yesterday I was thinking it was Saturday all day long. My kids knew that I was off a day and did they have a ball messing with old pop all day long. Today it’s supposed to be 90 and clear all day so I’m thinking, case of beer, cooler with plenty of ice and the beach all day long so the kids can have some fun.

Last day

Well it’s the 15th and the end of the current pay period and that means the end of my current position. One of the techs is taking me out to lunch today and told me that today I can just sit back and relax all day and not do a thing. The one thing I’m really going to miss is the 2 techs that I worked with. They are great guys and I feel bad that they have to stay around and deal with everything. I wish them all nothing but great things in the future.

No I’m not getting soft either for those that know me, I’m just being honest with what’s happening with my career and life.

What do we have here?

I wonder what he’s doing on company time. I’ll give you a hint, most people would be written up or fired for it. And no it’s not me.

The waiting is the hardest part.

Well I accepted a new position last Friday at a new company and now I’m just waiting for the drug test results and the background check to come back. After they recieve that then I’ll get a call letting me know everything’s cool on their end and then we work out a start date. I filled out the paperwork last friday for the BG check and that’s supposed to take 48-72 hours and the drug test which I took yesterday is supposed to take 48hr’s to come back. I don’t believe I have anything to worry about but who knows anymore in this world.

Bloging in the workplace

I was watching CSI last week, (don’t remember which one) and one of the cases they were working on revolved around a blog in the workplace that they had to figure out who owned since it was important to the case. That got me thinking, how many people out there really have a blog about the people they work with and is based on the company they work for?

Thoughts?
